Mulling spices are not just for the holidays anymore. Mrs. Bryant's England Mulling Spice can be used as: a rub; with wine or vinegar; any fruit juice or fruit juice blend; and as a tea. We have discovered that fruit juices can be diluted with water and still have a great "undiluted" taste when you use Mrs. Bryant's England Mulling Spice. This allows you to extend the juice; it costs less; and allows you to decrease your sugar intake since our mulling spice has no sugar added. Recently, we made and served a Mulled Cranberry Juice to customers at Ellwood Thompson's Local Market in Richmond. It was so well received that we were asked to share the recipe, so here it is:
Mulled Cranberry Juice
1/2 gallon water
1/2 gallon cranberry juice
1 Tbsp Mrs. Bryant's England Mulling Spice (in a tea ball or Mrs. Bryant's tea sleeve)
Orange Slice (optional)
In a large sauce pan, add all the ingredients. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Serve hot, cold or as ice cubes (vodka on spiced cranberry rocks).
